Moose Hunts

Alberta, Canada has some of the best moose hunting in North America and is one of the continents top moose destinations. The Canadian Moose are the second largest mammals of the deer family and can be found throughout Canada. Some of the Western Moose can weigh up to 1400lbs, and are highly adaptable, so they can be found in a variety of habitats from dense forests to open meadows.

HOK hunts in the Northern Alberta Boreal Forest, and offers hunts to Non-Residents(Canadian) and Non-Resident aliens (Outside of Canada).

During September/October this is calling season as bulls are in rut and searching for a female. Types of hunts during the rut depend on the weather conditions, which can be drastically different one year to the next. Expect to be with your guide calling, while covering some ground by walking, Quad, or in an Argo. It’s an early morning during rut, when the forest is calm and quiet so we can hear the bull grunts in the distance.

Late Season Hunt occurs in November, and is a Post-Rut Hunt. During this time the moose are more focused on eating, so we will be travelling by a heated-cab SxS on tracks, or in a truck even, with your guide during the entire hunt. This is a spot and stalk type hunt as the moose will not be calling, but we will be able to travel greater distances than during an earlier season. The Moose are likely to be in bachelor groups, increasing your chances of seeing multiple bulls in one area. Weather dependant, we can travel on the frozen ground in places we’re not able to during the Early Season, which helps your chances also. Expect some snow on the ground and leaves to have fallen in some areas, to help spot and stalk your late season moose. Season runs November 1-30.

Can be combined with a wolf/coyote hunt as available.
